So many people I have spoken to recently are lamenting their lack of Christmas spirit. Even folks who usually love all of the preparations and lead-in to Christmas feel…nothing. I feel the same way. It’s still early, I know. Time and a viewing of Rudolph and a Charlie Brown Christmas can change that overnight.
But how about this: Let’s go outside of our normal routine and give of ourselves this year. Volunteer in a soup kitchen. Visit a nursing home. Wrap gifts for the needy. Contribute to a coat drive. Just get out of our comfort zones and try something different. Make it closer to home. Give a caregiver the night off, a night out. Babysit for a young mother.
Let’s not wait for the spirit to come to us. Let’s bring it to someone else.
